Flowers radially symmetrical - flowers not radially symmetrical.
several monocots (Poaceae, Cyperaceae, Juncaceae etc.) have small flowers, whose elements are often reduced or transformed, so that it is difficult to appreciate the features separating different families. A feature which is normally easy to observe with a lens is the radial symmetry of the flowers of the family Juncacee (and of other small families): their flowers are made of 6 greenish or brownish tepals radially arranged around the ovarium. This feature is easy to observe also in the fruit, which is surrounded at teh base by 6 radially arranged tepals.
