Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the subalpine belt (potential vegetation: open, taiga-like forests dominated by Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra and Rhododendron)
Note: a rare species with a thick, brownish thallus consisting of polygonal areoles and forming small isles (c. 2-4 mm in diam.) on the host lichen, with ellipsoid ascospores (to c. 10 µm long); a lichenicolous lichen on Caloplaca dalmatica on calcareous rocks; widespread in SW Europe, with a few records from the Western Alps (France).
