Substrate: bark, siliceous rocks
Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the subalpine belt (potential vegetation: open, taiga-like forests dominated by Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra and Rhododendron)
Note: a mainly temperate to southern boreal species found on evergreen leaves and base-rich bark, sometimes on plant debris, calcareous stones, etc., mostly near the ground; certainly overlooked, and perhaps more widespread in the Alps, below the subalpine belt.
