Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the subalpine belt (potential vegetation: open, taiga-like forests dominated by Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra and Rhododendron)
Note: a name applied to corticolous populations of a Scoliciosporum with the hymenial characters of S. umbrinum, namely the fasciculate, twisted ascospores; the taxonomic value is uncertain; mostly on branches of various trees including conifers (Larix), in the Alps from the lowlands to the subalpine belt.
