Altitudinal distribution: montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a taxon of the B. rufus-group with thallus composed of minute squamules and pink-coloured, distinctly marginate apothecia reacting K+ yellow, then red; on acid soil, rarely on stumps or encrusting bryophytes; distribution insufficiently known.
