Lichenised. Poorly known taxon.
Substrate: bark, lignum
Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the subalpine belt (potential vegetation: open, taiga-like forests dominated by Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra and Rhododendron)
Note: the value of this taxon is questioned by some authors, who treat it as chemical strain (lacking xanthones) of L. elaeochroma; most frequent on bark of deciduous trees in montane to subalpine forests, also on low shrubs (e.g. Rhododendron) in the treeline ecotone.
