Substrate: bark, lignum
Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a corticolous species of the D. alboatrum-group with relatively large apothecia with a prominent, thick margin, and additionally a thalline veil; usually on smooth bark of deciduous trees (Populus, Fraxinus); an inland species at low elevations; from the Alps there are only some scattered records, but perhaps it was not always distinguished from similar species.
