Phaeocalicium mildeanum (Hepp) Puntillo
Syn.: Calicium mildeanum Hepp, Calicium ornicola J. Steiner, Mycocalicium mildeanum (Hepp) Nádv., Mycocalicium ornicola (J. Steiner) Nádv., Phaeocalicium ornicolum (J. Steiner) Titov, Stenocybe mildeana (Hepp) Jatta
Non- or doubtfully lichenised. Poorly known taxon.
Substrate: bark
Altitudinal distribution: submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus)
Note: a non-lichenised species resembling Ph. praecedens but with smaller fruiting bodies approaching in size those of Ph. tremulicola; although in Ph. mildeanum and Ph. ornicolum different sizes have been reported for the non-septate ascospores, it is likely that both are heterotypic synonyms; on twigs of Fraxinus (mostly F. ornus) in the Southern Alps, certainly declining.
Italy: Trentino Alto Adige; Slovenia: Alpine and Pre-Alpine Slovenia;
