Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a species of the C. cerina-group with an almost completely granulose thallus and apothecia of the C. cerina-type, usually with whitish-pruinose margins; on bark of deciduous trees along roads or in rural landscapes; widespread in Europe with scattered records from the Alps, but not common.
