Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a taxon of the C. saxicola-group forming large rosettes of densely pruinose thalli (resulting in a salmon colour), with strongly convex lobes; on vertical to overhanging walls of limestone at low elevations; in the study area so far only known from the southern part of the Western Alps.
