Substrate: acidic soil (mostly on siliceous substrata)

Altitudinal distribution: alpine belt (potential vegetation: treeless Alpine grasslands and tundras, to the lower limit of perennial snow and the equilibrium line of glaciers)

Note: an arctic-alpine species of acid soil in rather humid situations; very rare in the Alps, being only known from Austria.
