Altitudinal range: from the mesomediterranean belt (potential vegetation: evergreen broad-leaved forests dominated by Quercus ilex) to the subalpine belt (potential vegetation: open, taiga-like forests dominated by Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra and Rhododendron)
Note: a temperate to southern boreal-montane, holarctic lichen found on calcicolous mosses, rarely directly on rock in sheltered situations, e.g. in woodlands or on shaded walls; rare within large settlements and in areas with intensive agriculture, otherwise widespread throughout the Alps.
