Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a species with a squamulose thallus forming small rosettes, with cylindrical, isidioid lobes in the centre; on irrigated faces of various types of rocks; widespread in Northern Europe, further south most frequent in the mountains; known from scattered localities throughout the Alps.
