Altitudinal distribution: montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a species described from Switzerland, with a radiating brownish thallus and flattened marginal branchlets, found on long-time moist siliceous rocks along creeks and rivers, sometimes even submerged; widespread in Europe (including Macaronesia) but rarely collected; from the Alps there are only a few scattered, historical records.
