Altitudinal distribution: subalpine belt (potential vegetation: open, taiga-like forests dominated by Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra and Rhododendron)
Note: a species with a red-brown involucrellum and narrowly fusiform, 3-septate ascospores; corticolous on branches of Rhododendron, apparently rare in the Alps, being only known from Austria, but perhaps overlooked elsewhere.
