Altitudinal range: from the mesomediterranean belt (potential vegetation: evergreen broad-leaved forests dominated by Quercus ilex) to the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus)
Note: a species with a pale grey thallus reacting C+ red and Pd+ yellow, and long lirelliform ascomata; on bark of broad-leaved trees in forests and woodlands under maritime influence; distributed in suitable habitats not too far from the coast in Western Europe, further south from Macaronesia eastwards to the Black Sea area, with a few records from the Western Alps at low elevations.
