Altitudinal distribution: montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a doubtfully lichenised species with a thin, blackish, subiculum-like thallus, 8-spored asci, and hyaline, narrowly fusiform, simple ascospores (to c. 12 μm long); on branches of Betula, only known from the type locality in the Eastern Alps (Austria).
