Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a calcicolous species of unclear relationship, with a bluish grey, epilithic, areolate to verrucose thallus forming patches to c. 2 cm in diam., protruding ascomata (to 0.3 mm in diam.) not rarely arising inbetween areoles, an entire involucrellum, and oblong ascospores (to c. 20 µm long); only known from the type locality in the Western Alps (Italy).
