Altitudinal distribution: montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a rare species found on smooth bark of old deciduous trees, especially Fagus, in humid montane forests. For specimens on Abies with large, thick-walled ascospores see L. insignis.
