Ochrolechia pallescens (L.) A. Massal.
Syn.: Lichen pallescens L., Ochrolechia parella (L.) A. Massal. subsp. pallescens (L.) Clauzade & Cl. Roux, Ochrolechia parella (L.) A. Massal. var. tumidula auct. non (Pers.) Arnold, Parmelia pallescens (L.) Fr.
Lichenised.
Substrate: bark
Altitudinal range: from the mesomediterranean belt (potential vegetation: evergreen broad-leaved forests dominated by Quercus ilex) to the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a mainly temperate species found on deciduous trees in humid areas. The relationships with O. parella remain to be clarified: the two species are similar, but have a different ecology and distribution, and they hardly can be treated as forms of one and the same species.
