Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a species with a strongly reduced thallus of scattered areoles, finally sessile apothecia with lecanorine margins and brownish-green discs, and broadly ellipsoid ascospores; parasitic on Placopyrenium breussii (which is itself a parasite on Aspicilia calcitrapa) on inclined to subvertical, well-lit faces of siliceous schists; in the study area so far known only from the base of the Western Alps.
