Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the subalpine belt (potential vegetation: open, taiga-like forests dominated by Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra and Rhododendron)
Note: a species with a whitish-grey thallus reacting Pd+ orange-red (fumarprotocetraric acid), provided with often persistently hemispherical papillae (which are scarce in fertile forms), Lecanora-like apothecia, and single-spored asci; on siliceous rocks in the European orobiomes; very rare in the Alps, below the subalpine belt.
