Substrate: living mosses, plant debris, calciferous soil, calciferous rocks, , lignum

Altitudinal range: from the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies) to the alpine belt (potential vegetation: treeless Alpine grasslands and tundras, to the lower limit of perennial snow and the equilibrium line of glaciers)

Note: a taxon described from maritime Northern France, where it colonises organic waste like paper, leather, etc.; elsewhere it was reported from soil rich in calcium in open vegetation types; the distribution in the Alps is poorly known, and records from high altitudes need verification.
