Substrate: intermediate rocks (such as calciferous schists)

Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)

Note: a species known from the southern part of Central Europe to the Mediterranean area, extending to Macaronesia, found on slightly calcareous schists, with a few records from the Western and the Southern Alps (France, Italy).
