Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the subalpine belt (potential vegetation: open, taiga-like forests dominated by Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra and Rhododendron)
Note: a species with a minute, dark brown thallus consisting of small erect branches up to 1 mm tall, which in part bear terminal, relatively large apothecia containing 8-spored asci and subspherical ascospores, in part bear terminal pycnidia with oblong, short pycnospores; on moist rocks, ecology similar to that of Spilonema paradoxum; overall distribution poorly documented.
