Altitudinal distribution: submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus)
Note: a species of the C. dalmatica-group with an areolate thallus, usually richly fertile, with several crowded apothecia per areole, and ascospores with lumina recalling the Mischoblastia-type; on limestone in Aspicilia calcarea-communities, often invading thalli of species of the C. variabilis-group; in the Alps so far only known from a single locality, but probably not distinguished in the past.
