Cladonia cryptochlorophaea Asahina

Lichenised.

Substrate: acidic soil (mostly on siliceous substrata), living mosses, siliceous rocks

Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the alpine belt (potential vegetation: treeless Alpine grasslands and tundras, to the lower limit of perennial snow and the equilibrium line of glaciers)

Note: a mainly cool-temperate, perhaps holarctic lichen found on soil rich in humus, on peat, etc., probably with a western distribution in Europe. Perhaps better treated as a chemical strain of C. grayi.
