Substrate: calciferous rocks
Altitudinal distribution: montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a calcicolous species with a thin, spreading, brown, rimose to subareolate thallus, ascomata (to 0.4 mm in diam.) in conical warts, a carbonised involucrellum tightly adpressed to the exciple in the upper half but indistinct further downwards, and ellipsoid ascospores (to c. 25 µm long); reported from several localities in Southern and Central Europe, with a single record from the Eastern Alps (Austria).
