Altitudinal distribution: submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus)
Note: a species resembling Th. girardii, but with a polyphyllous thallus, found on humid calcareous rocks at low elevations; only known from the type locality in the Western Alps (Switzerland).
