Substrate: siliceous rocks
Altitudinal range: from the mesomediterranean belt (potential vegetation: evergreen broad-leaved forests dominated by Quercus ilex) to the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus)
Note: on steeply inclined seepage tracks of basic siliceous rocks in lowland areas; a southern species, often found together with P. euploca, but much less frequent, with a few records from the Western Alps and the inner xerothermic valleys.
