Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a species with lobate ascomata bordered by byssoid hyphae, and phragmospored, microcephalic ascospores; on bark of conifers in old-growth forests under suboceanic climatic conditions; widespread in the temperate to boreal zones, in the Alps lacking only in areas with a more continental climate.
