Non- or doubtfully lichenised. Poorly known taxon.

Altitudinal distribution: submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus)
Note: an early coloniser of base-rich bark, most probably non-lichenised. The type material was growing on Fraxinus; this is the type species of the monotypic genus Arthopyreniella, based on differences in pycnidial apparatus.
