Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the nival belt (above the lower limit of perennial snow and glaciers)
Note: on steeply inclined surfaces of hard calciferous rocks, including moderately dolomitic, hard limestone; certainly widespread and locally abundant throughout the Alps, with optimum in the montane and subalpine belts.
