Substrate: metal-rich siliceous rocks
Altitudinal distribution: subalpine belt (potential vegetation: open, taiga-like forests dominated by Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra and Rhododendron)
Note: a silicicolous species with a brown-red thallus, black, urceolate, immarginate apothecia, and subglobose ascospores of c. 10 µm in diam.; ecology and distribution are insufficiently known; in the study area only reported from a few localities of the Eastern Alps (Austria).
