Substrate: bark, lignum
Altitudinal range: from the mesomediterranean belt (potential vegetation: evergreen broad-leaved forests dominated by Quercus ilex) to the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: superficially resembling C. cerinella, but with a different number of spores per ascus. Also the ecology and distribution are different: C. cerinelloides has a more northern distribution and usually occurs on Populus tremula, or even on twigs of conifers.
