Altitudinal distribution: montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a species with perithecioid, yellow-brown ascomata, the acicular to vermiform ascospores being discharged through a narrow pore; on bark of broad-leaved trees (e.g. Fagus), usually near the base of trunks; rare in SE Europe, with a single record from the Eastern Alps.
