Lichenised. Poorly known taxon.
Substrate: siliceous rocks
Altitudinal distribution: montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a species with an inconspicuous thallus, small, red to rusty-red, solitary to crowded and then angular apothecia with a flat disc and a prominent margin, and hyaline, 1-septate, narrowly oblong ascospores measuring c. 14.7 × 3-4 µm; only known from the type collection, on micaceous schists, this species could prove to be a Caloplaca s.lat. (see Nimis 1993: 206).
