Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a species with a sorediate to leprose, grey-green thallus with a peculiar secondary chemistry (atranorin, thiophanic acid, arthothelin), apothecia rare; on the bark of trees and dwarf shrubs in forests under oceanic influence, and at low elevations; the distribution is insufficiently known.
