Substrate: calciferous soil, acidic soil (mostly on siliceous substrata), plant debris

Altitudinal distribution: alpine belt (potential vegetation: treeless Alpine grasslands and tundras, to the lower limit of perennial snow and the equilibrium line of glaciers)

Note: an arctic-alpine, perhaps circumpolar lichen found over frost-disturbed, weakly calcareous soil; to be looked for further in the Alps, where it is perhaps more widespread.
