Altitudinal distribution: subalpine belt (potential vegetation: open, taiga-like forests dominated by Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra and Rhododendron)
Note: a species with black thin squamules, flat apothecia, 8-spored asci, and globose ascospores; so far only reported from the base of the Western Alps (France), and from Bavaria.
