Substrate: acidic soil (mostly on siliceous substrata), calciferous soil
Altitudinal range: from the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies) to the nival belt (above the lower limit of perennial snow and glaciers)
Note: an arctic-alpine to boreal-montane, circumpolar lichen found on soil, often in and amongst bryophytes, mostly over siliceous substrata in moist habitats; widespread throughout the Alps wherever siliceous substrata are present.
