Altitudinal distribution: subalpine belt (potential vegetation: open, taiga-like forests dominated by Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra and Rhododendron)
Note: a fertile species of a brownish-grey colour with very narrow marginal lobes, reacting K+ red; based on a type from Siberia; the conspecificity of populations from the Alps is uncertain.
