Substrate: calciferous rocks
Altitudinal range: from the subalpine belt (potential vegetation: open, taiga-like forests dominated by Larix decidua and/or Pinus cembra and Rhododendron) to the nival belt (above the lower limit of perennial snow and glaciers)
Note: on calciferous rocks, especially in rock fissures and on steeply inclined to slightly overhanging surfaces near or above treeline; very closely related to F. jurana, this taxon, known from the Central European mountains (Alps, Carpathians), awaits further study
