Altitudinal distribution: submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus)
Note: a mild-temperate to Mediterranean-Atlantic species found on steeply inclined faces of calciferous rocks near the coast, in rather shaded and humid situations, with a few records from the base of the Western Alps (France).
