Lichenised. Poorly known taxon.
Substrate: bark
Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a strain with the secondary chemistry of L. albescens but with a different morphology, the spreading thallus being widely covered by isidioid structures, usually lacking conspicuous orbicular soralia; the nomenclature is unresolved; here and there in Europe including the Alps but older records need chemical reinvestigation.
