Substrate: living mosses, calciferous soil, bark, plant debris
Altitudinal range: from the mesomediterranean belt (potential vegetation: evergreen broad-leaved forests dominated by Quercus ilex) to the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: a mild-temperate species found on terricolous mosses and plant debris over calcareous substrata, sometimes amongst mosses on basal parts of old trees; widespread, but only locally rather common in the Alps.
