Caloplaca pulchrevirens (Anzi) Jatta

Syn.: Placodium pulchrevirens Anzi
Lichenised. Poorly known taxon.
Substrate: bark
Altitudinal range: from the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus) to the montane belt (potential vegetation: deciduous forests dominated by Fagus sylvatica and closed coniferous forests with Picea abies)
Note: this species should be characterised by the bright green thallus and the small, urceolate, immersed apothecia, but the colour of the thallus could have been due to deposits of substances containing copper, used in agriculture against plant pathogens (see Nimis 1993: 190); the type material badly needs revision.
