Altitudinal distribution: alpine belt (potential vegetation: treeless Alpine grasslands and tundras, to the lower limit of perennial snow and the equilibrium line of glaciers)
Note: a species characterised by a pale, orange-ochraceous, subsquamulose thallus and small, punctiform apothecia; described from Sweden, it is also known from Norway, the Czech Republic and Russia (Novaya Zemlja), and in Scandinavia it has a distinctly northern distribution, with a single record from the base of the Western Alps (France).
