Altitudinal range: from the mesomediterranean belt (potential vegetation: evergreen broad-leaved forests dominated by Quercus ilex) to the submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus)
Note: this recently resurrected species is closely related to B. parmigera, differing in the less dense and more irregularly distributed perithecia. The species has not been distinguished in most of the earlier literature, so that its distribution is very poorly known.
