Altitudinal distribution: submediterranean/colline belt (potential vegetation: mixed deciduous forests dominated by Quercus and Carpinus)
Note: a calcicolous species with a whitish, rimulose to areolate thallus, hemispherically protruding perithecia (to 0.25 mm in diam.) arising in the centre of the areoles, an involucrellum adpressed to the perithecial wall and reaching down about 1/3 of the perithecium, and ellipsoid ascospores (to c. 35 µm long); only known from the type locality in the Eastern Alps (Italy).
